The emphasis for this group is short, slow-paced manageable walks with an empathy for members who find group walking a bit daunting & an opportunity for wildlife enthusiasts / photographers.
The Leader will be at the meeting place whatever the weather & only cancel the walk in consultation with those who turn up on the day. Wear suitable clothing, footwear & sun protection & carry a water bottle. Always keep dogs under close control.
All Leaders act in a voluntary capacity, carry a First Aid box & emergency contact list. All walkers join the walk at their own risk

A fabulous backdrop to our canal walk ending with plenty of time for refreshments at The Hub Café, a charming little spot. The museum & it’s shop & canal boats close from November 1st but I'm sure we can plan another summer visit & take in what they have to offer then. |
Tuesday 6th October. Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Wood
Viewing the early morning fog, you’d be forgiven for preferring to stay home rather than making ready for a slow walk. But Ashby u3a walkers are a pretty stalwart lot.
So, 11 of us enjoyed not only the beautiful surroundings but some surprising welcome sunshine. Teasels and Reed heads were in abundance as well as the splashes of colour from the red Hawthorn berries. Sadly, we didn’t see any wildlife. No birds along the track at all, but the lake looked amazing in the distance.
A perfect calm early Autumn walk with excellent company which we all thoroughly enjoyed.
