Poetry Reading

Leader:  Kath Fisher - poetry@ashbyu3a.co.uk - phone 07857 688822

We aim to get together to read, enjoy and discuss poetry. We meet on the third Thursday of the month at 2.30 pm.

17th September

The poetry group had another very enjoyable meeting looking at poems each of us particularly enjoyed or poets we wanted to promote. We read work by Emily Dickinson who was a very interesting, quite challenging poet, Eavan Boland, a more contemporary Irish writer and poems by Norman Nicholson. His 'Rising Five' was a very good discovery for some of us. Oscar Wilde's 'Ballad of Reading Gaol' provoked a good discussion and we will continue with the poems we didn't have time for at our next meeting.

That will be on October 15th at 2.30. If anyone would like to join us, please come along. You will be most welcome.
