Poetry Reading

We aim to get together to read, enjoy and discuss poetry. We meet on the third Thursday of the month at 2.30 pm.

16th October

The group met for the first time in October and we discussed several of the poems of ex-Laureate Carol Ann Duffy which was an enjoyable experience. A particular favourite seemed to be 'Before You Were Mine' as were 'Head of English' and 'Valentine'. 'Adultery', a quite complex poem, caused a lot of discussion as did 'Stuffed' which is one of the darker and more challenging poems.

The next meeting will focus on Philip Larkin and will be on November 20th at 2.30. The venue is 42 Avenue Road, Ashby.
