Poetry Reading

We aim to get together to read, enjoy and discuss poetry. We meet on the third Thursday of the month at 2.30 pm.

15th January

The group held a January meeting and had a discussion about poems to do with winter which seemed appropriate! Members of the group had suggested poems in advance and we talked about a good selection of them. 'Those Winter Sundays' by American poet Robert Hayden proved a particular favourite as did Hardy's 'The Darling Thrush'.

The next meeting will take place at 42 Avenue Road, Ashby on Thursday February 19th at 2.30 when we will look at the poems we didn't have time to consider in January. These include work by Simon Armitage, William Wordsworth, Pablo Neruda, John Burnside and Roger McGough.
