18th April - Meynell Langley Gardens

Our April self drive was to Meynell Langley Gardens at Kirk Langley which is a working nursery growing a lot of their own plants. However they also have to import certain plants to grow-on, as there is a protection on them to prevent them being propagated in this country.

First stop was to the restaurant for those of us who had pre-booked their meal, which the gardens asked us to do. I must say most of the food was homemade made and very tasty.

We then all gathered at the nursery area and had a tour and talk and we were also demonstrated the machine used for filling the pots ready for planting. We then went for a tour of the trials garden, some areas being prepared for planting for summer, a new pond and more alterations that have been added since we were here about 5-6 years ago.
